JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ Interview After Pacquiao 4 Fight
Larry Merchant: Congratulations on a great victory. Coming on to this fight, do you feel that he was vulnerable after the right hands that knocked him down?
Juan Manuel Marquez: No we needed to work on those points but I always said that the change in the rhythm was going to be important.
Larry Merchant: He came out…
Juan Manuel Marquez: (Gestures to Pacquiao)… good fight, good fight.
Larry Merchant: He came out very aggressive. So did you sense immediately I just have to be patient and counter him?
Juan Manuel Marquez: We knew he was going to come out aggressive so we needed do a fight plan that was a bit more technique. And we knew of what was going to happen, and we capitalize on it.
Larry Merchant: When you knock him down, the first time, did you say to yourself ’okay this is different now, I am the stronger guy in the ring.
Juan Manuel Marquez: Yes, we know that if we fought his way, we knew it was going to be a very difficult fight. But it wasn’t impossible to win.
Larry Merchant: But you are hurt very badly, or at least you are bleeding very badly. Did you sense you have to do something dramatic at that point?
Juan Manuel Marquez: We have to use our technique and our skill, and it’s very important to not allow Manny as he usually does.
Larry Merchant: When you went down from a straight left hand, did you feel… that was… I did something not right?
Juan Manuel Marquez: Yes it was an error we fought with my hand down. But after that we corrected.
Larry Merchant: I ask you before the fight, whether all of your new muscles would make a difference. Did the muscles made the difference?
Juan Manuel Marquez: I don’t think so, we work strength, and we work speed. And I mean you can see the good result.
Larry Merchant: Do you want or expect a 5th fight with Manny?
Juan Manuel Marquez: We’ll relax, we’ll talk with the family and we’ll see what comes.
Larry Merchant: Thank you for a great fight.
Juan Manuel Marquez: (shouts) Ariba Mexico! Ariba Mexico!
Juan Manuel Marquez: (shakes hands of Pacquiao) Again, again you are a great fighter.
MANNY PACQUIAO INTERVIEW AFTER THE MARQUEZ 4 FIGHT
Larry Merchant: Manny, after you suffer from the first knockdown earlier in the fight, you seem to be taking control. Did you get careless? Or did you think you got him?
Manny Pacquiao: Yes, I got careless on that fight. I think I got him but you know it’s not good.
Larry Merchant: Because he was so bloodied from your punches? Did you felt that was the time to finish him?
Manny Pacquiao: Yes, yes. I was so careless for the fight. That’s part of the fight.
Larry Merchant: Did you get hit with a punch that you never saw and you are out for a long time before you even knew it?
Manny Pacquiao: Exactly. I was overconfident. I thought I got him.
Larry Merchant: We have never seen you go down like that since your career in America, since you became such a force. I want you to look here and tell us what you see? (Plays knock out video) I assume you have not seen this yet.
Manny Pacquiao: Yes, I thought I got him.
Larry Merchant: So did it surprise you that despite the fact that you knocked him down, despite the fact that he was so bloodied, that he came back at you with such force.
Manny Pacquiao: Exactly, he is not an easy opponent. He is a tough boxer. I respect Marquez, not that easy fighter to beat. I did my best but that’s boxing, that’s the sport.
Larry Merchant: Did you get too aggressive?
Manny Pacquiao: No, I thought I got him in the early rounds but I got hit with a solid punch.
Larry Merchant: He hit you before, was he stronger or was it just he hits you with punches that you never saw coming?
Manny Pacquiao: I never saw his punch, never expected that punch.
Larry Merchant: I know it’s rather soon after you’ve been knocked down for the first time in a very, very long time. But you have another full time career back home as a congressman. Do you want to fight again? Do you want to fight him again?
Manny Pacquiao: Yes why not, it’s a good fight. I was just starting, I was overconfident on that fight because I thought I got him.
Larry Merchant: So you’re saying to us, that you want to see a 5th fight with Marquez?
Manny Pacquiao: (laughs) Well, if they gave us a chance, we’ll fight again.

stop that drama manny, i know everything happen inside your mind, you know i am more than sort analyst did...this is scripted...
Manny did a legal cheating...in front of billions of people around the world...imagine because of money manny did that...
Let us not blame Pacquiao's change in faith for him losing the fight. We know he's a good man and it doesn't matter what religion he is up to. All that matters is that whatever he may believe in, it's making him a better person. We have many different religions but no matter what the name the god that we believe in is, I believe it's just the same supreme being, the same creator. We human beings only have one god. I believe in that. It's just that we have different beliefs on why our god is our god and how we existed in this world. Our god is good. I know for sure that on what happened to Pacquiao, it is not our god's intention to make him regret his change of faith. It's just a test. I'm a Roman Catholic but I respect Manny for whatever his decision is regarding his faith. I know he has reasons of his own for that. He still has his good heart anyways. Nothing's changed. At the end of the day, that was just sport. And in sports, it's not all the time an athlete will win. There will always come a time for losing. And in losing, there's always a lesson. And realizing that lesson is the most important thing. No matter what, we support you Manny. Your Filipino supporters still believe in you. For now, you need to take a rest first because we know you're tired after months of training.. .. months of training to continue giving pride to the Philippines. God bless you and your family. :)
I hate how everyone says it was a lucky punch no punch is lucky in boxing no punch is a lucky punch you throw every single punch with intention and manny Pacquiao is not still the winner he got ko'ed quit talking shit and give Juan Manuel Marquez the respect he deserves!
Jesus ur right ! I'm sick of these people give no respect to Marques how about they jump in the ring? Marques pumped manny did you people not see the over hand right knock his ass on the ground? The first time? Was that lucky punch?? the real winner done and dusted!
Not only does Marquez deserve that belt, he earned it. Manny got careless but he admitted it like a good sport. Marquez' came out there and even though he was losing most of the rounds his heart never faltered and it paid off. Hats off to these to phenomenal fighters!
let me fight marquez and i will knock him out at the first round!
like pacman said... he's too much confident. i believe he learn much now :)
Hattting ass niggas ..yo... good nite biachhhh
Mexico
Mexico
Mexico
Keep up your Faith in God Manny..We're praying for you!
You can tell marquez is getting slower because of age but he gains experience. He knows pac better than anyone and knows his weakness. Even if you say that Pacman won The last three(I dont)There was no clear winner. He never knocked JMM out to signify he was the dominant one is taking anything away from pacman and the cockriders just dont accept that he is human after all.
why are you guys keep saying its over, they reach the 4 fight, if they want to its theirs not yours, pacman accepted to fight him 4 times so why not, dumb
JMM's lucky punch? No
MP's over confident? Yes
Congratz JMM
Pinoy ako
I am a big fan of PACMAN and disappoint to see him not wearing his rosary. But i still believes in him when it comes to boxing. He got too much confidence that night, he forgot that Marquez is not a jeepney driver but a highly trained boxers that like him doesnt crack under pressure. It was a good exiting and shocking fight. Congrats to both fighters.
It was a great fight, congratulations to both fighters, nothing is forever, no excuses and you have to accept the defeat of Pacquiao,CONGRATS JMM GOOD VICTORY
Pacquiao, I think its best for you to follow what the LORD said in your dream before the Bradley fight - The LORD told you to retire from boxing or else you will find yourself fighting against God. Little wonder why you are starting to lose fights.
Now marquez is hiding just like mayweather,he knew that he will loss in a 5th fight.
