Manny Pacquiao's Former Manager Rod Nazario Died - Rod Nazario’s death came four days after Pacquiao entered Baguio City training camp. Nazario struggled with lung cancer for many years before passing away at the age of 74.
Pacquiao was somber during his Thursday training.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rod Nazario, who was not only a loving father and husband, but a great loss to me and the sport of boxing. I will forever cherish our fondest memories in and outside the ring. We will terribly miss him," said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao visited Nazario last weekend at Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Pinas.
About Rod Nazario
Nazario managed Pacquiao from 1995 to 2005. He was responsible for Pacquiao's U.S. break in 2001 when Manny defeated beat Lehlo Ledwaba for the IBF super-bantamweight world title. Nazario was also responsible in pairing Pacquiao with Barrera, a fight which made Pacquiao a star. They parted ways after Pacquiao lost to Erik Morales.
