Pacquiao vs Rios 24/7 Video & Transcript - In the sport of boxing nothing is more universally celebrated than relentlessness. A fighter who instigates the action, who insists upon an unyielding pace of exchange, will find himself applauded and admired wherever he goes. A fighter who does this victoriously will discover what’s it’s like to ascend from man to legend. But none of this to say, relentlessness comes without risks.
It’s been almost a year since Manny Pacquiao awoke on the floor of the ring in Las Vegas. As shocked as anyone from the blow that has be felled him, as I’m sure is anyone, what would come next. The resolution that has turned out will have elements of the recognizable. A challenger whose style of combat is just as furious, as the Filipinos. Even if his personality will never be regarded as anything close to statesmanlike.
“That one Mexican has knocked him out. This Mexican-American will retire Pacquiao,” said Rios.
In a setting that is attributed to the globalization of his stardom. For a champion intent on restoring his supremacy out of the ashes of surprise. In a matchup that should demonstrate that universal appeal of relentlessness. This is 24/7 Pacquiao Rios.
On a hazy morning this past July, Manny Pacquiao took a short plane ride from his hometown Philippines to Macau, China. It was a first stop of the international press tour to promote the fighter’s bout November 23rd with Brandon Rios. Macau, a tourist and gambling mecca of the pro river delta will be where the fight will take place. Pacquiao first fight in nearly a year.
“I’m happy to be back in boxing again. This is a big opportunity for us to fight here in Macau. And it’s very close to the Philippines. I’m expecting that more Filipinos than Mexican people are going to watch,” said Pacquiao.
While not as well-known as his opponent, Brandon Rios has his set of ring credentials. He’s a former lightweight champion, with just one lost on his record. But on the day of his legendary opponent, the bright lights has the normally self-assured Rios a bit off his game.
“First off all, I’m very nervous. This is my first big show I’ve ever done, and I’m like nervous. I’m not nervous about the fight, I’m nervous about being in front of all you people,” said Rios.
For Pacquiao, over the last decade, this kinds of settings has become routine. But the Rios tour has coming nearly a full year after his previous promotional obligation. His fourth meeting with his long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez. Following a draw, and two controversial Pacquiao victory, this was a fight to give a decisive addendum to their trilogy.

About a month after the Marquez bout, Pacquiao underwent a series of physical and neurological tests. He was medically cleared to fight. As has more time has passed, the memories of the frightening scene has softened.
“After the [Marquez] fight, he always watch the replay. He said ‘Oh, I got hit hard.’ And then I told him ‘Yeah.’ Cause if you saw the picture… Sometimes we joke about the knockout,” said Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee.
“You have to understand that this is sports. Not all the time you win, sometimes you lose,” Pacquiao said.
But even if he’s philosophical about his adversity. The reality remains that it has been two years, since his hands was raised in victory. And at age 34, in the 18th year of his pro career, the question lurks. Could Manny Pacquiao’s best days in the ring be behind him?
“My career in boxing is not done yet,” said Pacquiao, “If you don’t want to lose then don’t box, don’t fight. I’m not thinking ’Oh in my next fight, I’m going to be scared because I’m going to be hit again. No, I’m not thinking about that,” said Pacquiao.
