UPDATE MAY 7 - MANNY PACQUIAO WINS!

Pacquiao vs Mosley Play by Play Round by Round - We're doing a live round by round of the fight. Manny Pacquiao makes his way to the ring to face veteran boxing star Sugar Shane Mosley. The two will vie for the WBO 147-pound belt, Pacquiao defending his title at the welterweight. We'll have updates for the main event.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 1

Manny shoots a left to the body. Shane staying outside. Jab by Shane. Manny being cautious in his approaches. Manny flicks two jabs and a left to the body, no connects. Long stiff jab by Mosley. 1-2 by Manny gets there. Speed showed there. Pacquiao msises a right hook, left to the body lands. Shane really hasn’t landed anything significant in the first 1:50.

HARD body shot by Mosley. That had stank on it. Manny with a HARD left to the body in return. Both guys are showing a ton of respect for each other. Shane keeping distance pretty well. Good right by Mosley pops Manny’s guard back into his face. Right to the body misses from Shane. Manny misses a big left. Both look sharp defensively. Shane with two jabs.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 2

Manny targeting the body with the straight left. He’s found it nicely once so far. Body shot by Manny, Shane misses a right hand in return. Shane calling him in. Body shot Manny, Shane jabs back to the body. Manny coming forward now. Right to the body by Shane. Hard left to the body by Manny. Neither has landed anything hard upstairs yet. Mosley with two stiff jabs, the second has a right behind it that is blocked, but Manny felt it. Three shots by Manny! Shane woke up there. Shane shoots a right, Manny slips it. Heads nearly come together. Manny’s coming in with his head. Left to the body again by Manny. THere’s the Pacquiao speed! Head and body shots now. Not huge, but he’s showing he can land that. Shane starting to look trigger shy in the second half of this round. Manny throws three and might have gotten Mosley just off balance.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 3

Stiff right by Mosley, Pacquiao doesn’t back off too far, and Manny starts backing him down again. Manny moving his head, Shane actually mimics it. Pacquiao’s speed is obviously a huge advantage. There’s a left by Manny. Shane blocks one coming from the side. Body shot Manny. This is definitely not — yet — the destroyer Pacquiao. He’s very mindful of Shane’s power. Shane, though, is starting to lay back too much. That’s been the real worry — he can’t pull the trigger.

DOWN GOES SHANE MOSLEY ON A HUGE SHOT! HOLY COW! AND SHANE IS HURT BADLY!

Shane is in bad shape! Manny pouring it on, and Mosley is wobbly as hell, trying to hang on. Pacquiao with a left! Pacquiao’s speed is too much. Pacquiao to the body and head! Mosley is looking terrible in there. I think we’re seeing the end of him, though he’ll survive this round. manny clearly can dent him, and is going to.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 4

Shane can’t do anything offensively. Twitching, feinting, flicking jabs. Mosley just hugs him now. From nothing. Mosley is cooked. Manny shakes ohim on a left, and Shane falls down when they tie up. Just a slip. Shane lands a right hand counter that does pause Pacquiao. Body shot by Mosley. Hey, throw, Shane. But then he stops. He just cannot stay with Manny Pacquiao and he’s being hurt because he doesn’t see those left hands coming. The jab isn’t huge for Manny, but he’s using it to set up perfectly. Shane is just no longer good enough. I guess I’ve seen crazier comebacks, but this would be amazing at this point. Shane had a round, and it’s because Manny didn’t put the foot on the pedal.

Well, there’s a Mosley left hook. He started getting back into it just a bit late, but he’s still way off.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 5

Mosley trying to use the jab to keep distance again. His gears are definitely turning. Body shot by Manny. Heads clash a bit, no cut. Manny targeting the body again. Mosley with a good right to the body. And another. Mosley blocks the 1-2 this time. Mosley really isn’t doing HORRIBLY defensively, but offensively he cannot keep up. He can’t win this fight this way without a home run punch.

But this is better. Right hook Manny, left hook Shane. Bang-bang shots. Right hook Manny. Better round for Shane, but he’s still behind in the frame.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 6

Manny throwing with recklessness a little in the first 30 seconds of this round. Shane just isn’t throwing. He’s waiting, waiting, waiting. Even though he lands a few decent shots, he’s both not hurting Manny, and he’s not even close to the pace of Pacquiao, and this is not a blistering Pacquiao pace.

Manny starting to hunt him. Uppercut lands. Mosley is giong backwards and just not standing his ground. Manny waves him in now. Mosley does not oblige. Crowd is turning on Mosley, and frankly with fairly good reason. Manny hears the boos and starts coming hard at him. Mosley lands a good right hand. Maybe his best punch of the fight. But he does nothing else, and the round ends.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 7

Pacquiao is just sort of taking every single round a this point. It’s not an amazing domination, but it’s very, very clear that he’s winning. Mosley just cannot pull the trigger. Pacquiao not drilling him this round, but controlling everything. Crowd booing a little again. Now more than a little. Shane just isn’t fighting. I never thought I’d say that about Shane Mosley — even against Floyd it was one thing, even against Mora he TRIED to fight until he was exhausted early, but here there’s nothing.

Mosley is fighting a lot closer to Joshua Clottey than I’d care to admit, and the crowd boos the end of the round pretty damn loudly.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 8

Crowd booing REALLY loudly now. Uppercut by Shane, Manny fires a left back. Right hand by Shane. Then he ties up for whatever reason. Mosley is looking exhausted. He’s got no gas tank anymore. And once again the boo birds start making some noise. This fight crowd might really be starting to think of this as a pure sham — a pure sham. Shane Mosley is doing nothing. Mosley chops a left hook, it scrapes Manny, and he stumbles off balance, but nothing real big there. Right hand by Mosley. Then he hugs him again. Jesus, Shane, follow up. Left by Shane.

Well, the Shane picked up a tad here.

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 9

Mosley jabbing again, at least. Crowd still displeased but it’s not SO bad at this point. I think there’s a case they’re really just protesting this whole fight even happening. This is like a Mason “The Line” Dixon fight before he took on Rocky Balboa.

Heads collide again. Pacquiao turning up the head with 1:20 left. Pacquiao stalking now. Manny with a left to the body, then clubs him with one upstairs. Manny with the straight left. Shane is doing nothing. Naazim ought to consider ending this. There’s no longer any point to this.

Mosley shoots a right to the body, it doesn’t land. Right hand lands for Manny, then a straight left pushes Shane back.

Manny pressing a minute into the round, and Mosley is complaining about a headbutt. They have clashed a bunch, but Shane is raelly looking for help in there. Manny gives the impression of coming harder, but then doesn’t, really. Mosley shoves Manny — AND KENNY CALLS IT A KNOCKDOWN?

Unreasonably and crazy unusually bad call by Kenny Bayless.

Now Pacquiao’s pissed and firing with both hands. Right hook stings Mosley. Mosley hurt on a left! 20 seconds in the round! Manny now coming like Manny Pacquiao — right at Mosley, and backing him down.

I am not counting that knockdown. It was an OBVIOUS shove from every single angle.

Pacquiao coming strong now. He wants the KO. This is a different beast Pacquiao. This is not “I just do my job” Manny Pacquiao. This is “I want to knock this guy out” Manny Pacquiao. Manny just RIPPING him with speed, chasing him around the ring and tagging him. Pacquiao pounds the gloves — he’s ready to end this.

Pacquiao hunting for Mosley. Fans chant “knock him out” — this is like a super corny boxing movie right now. Three punch combo. Shane misses a home run left hook. Manny shoving him back constantly.

Now the crowd is booing again, but Manny comes up. Friend in the room: “It’s like the Clottey fight but walking backwards.”

Pacquiao vs Mosley Round 12

Fighters hug — Manny shoves him away. Fans chant “Manny.” The only good thing right now is this is about over. Mosley coming forward. Mosley blatantly holding now. Manny kind of trying to push this, but not really going nuts about it. No reason to do so.

One minute left. Hard shot by Manny. Shane wants nothing to do with this anymore. Manny hitting him, but nothing is going to happen here.

It’s over.

Crowd boos. Legitimately. Loudly.
