Pacquiao vs Hatton: Ricky Hatton Wants Pacquiao for his Last Fight in 2009

Ricky Hatton says he will fight Pacquiao and then retire from boxing.

The Manchester boxer, 29, then plans to end his career against Filipino great Manny Pacquiao or Mexican Oscar de la Hoya at Wembley next year 2009. But because De La Hoya will fight Pacquiao or Cotto for his last fight this December 2008, that leaves a showdown between him and Pacquiao.

"I don't want to go on forever and would have done everything I dreamed off, so two more fights and then I think I'm done," Hatton told BBC Sport.

Hatton will fight New Yorker Paulie Malignaggi later this year in Las Vegas for the IBF light-welterweight title.

Both Hatton and Pacquiao have a huge following and the fight, which the 'Hitman' hopes to hold in front of 100,000 fans in Britain, would prove a fitting finale to his career.

Hatton said in a Setanta interview that Pacquiao is the number one fighter in the world, and that he's only interested in fighting the best.

"In the New Year I'm hoping to fight either Manny Pacquiao or Oscar de la Hoya at Wembley Stadium in front of 100,000 people and after that I'll probably retire," added Hatton.

    i love the pacman... but i was a little skeptical about manny being able to take on hatton... forgot at what weight hatton fought mayweather... but at 140, hatton is way better than david diaz... hes a natural 140 pounder... a lot faster and a lot more powerful than the mexican... but if roach thinks he can be em, then hey, lets get it on!

    If Hatton fights Pacman, he will be tamed... He will no longer boast of his strength coz he will realize that everything has and ending, after all, he's nothing compared to what Manny has achieved... Hatton just brags coz he's a white racist!

    hatton is just a prey to a predator ( pac man)..mark my word....He is just a strong puncher nothing more nothing less..But Pacquaio can withstand him..Pacquiao will be the first Filipino boxer and asian boxer to win in five weight levels..

    It's going to be a day for the filipinos again, celebrating the end and probably the retirement of yet another great fighter in hatton. With Pacquiao's speed and power, the result is gonna be devastating!     Hatton did not ralize that all of Freddie Roach's prediction of rounds of knockout to Oscar, David Diaz and Morales came true. Is it a a lucky guess or gambling? No, Freddie Roach knows the weaknesses of each fighter,he even knows how to beat MAnny and the availbale fighter who can do that but Freddie loves the styles of PAcman and the two PAcman and Freddie will go down in boxing history as the greatest boxer-coach team of all time!Pacman without Freddie or Fredie without PAcman, they become nobody.
