Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Updates for the Week:

According to Leopoldo Gonzalez Golden Boy offered Pacquiao 10 Million Dollars:

During the twentieth annual convention of the World Boxing Organization conducted in October 2007, De la Hoya told Mexican media that "I would be willing to go down to welter weight to fight Pacquiao."

The six times former world champion felt that his final farewell fight had to be a big fight and Pacquiao was one on the list. Over the past few days there has been talks about the clash between these two figures who could well meet on December 2008. Golden Boy Promotions, commanded by the fighter from East Los Angeles, has offered 10 million dollars plus half the money of PPV (pay per event) to the tetra-champion Filipino.

Manny Pacquiao though, wants more than that said a Team Pacquiao insider.

Pacquiao directly said that he only want fair fight terms, like prize purses. He also added that given a choice between De La Hoya, Edwin Valero and Humberto Soto, he’d rather fight boxing’s Golden Boy.

Quick Updates

"De La Hoya fight was 70 percent done," Eric Pineda said in an interview.

Bob Arum wants Freddie and Manny to not provoke Oscar:

“I have asked Freddie to be quiet,” Arum said from Las Vegas. “And so has Manny. All these public remarks about Oscar de la Hoya and about how Oscar can’t pull the trigger anymore are not helpful to our cause.

"Look, Freddie is the trainer and it’s not his place to be making these kind of public comments about Oscar, not now when we’re trying to negotiate a fight."

Meanwhile, Oscar De La Hoya wants Manny Pacquiao to challenge him:

“Oscar will be in an awkward position if he himself will challenge Pacquiao. Oscar is the bigger man, physically, so it will be like an adult bullying a young boy,” said a source of Sports Chat.

Manny Pacquiao's wife is worried about her husband safety though. Manny is unfazed, even saying that he can beat Oscar De La Hoya:

"I can handle it," said Pacquiao. "We're just discussing about the weight."

He said he needs at least two-and-a-half months or ten weeks to train for somebody like De La Hoya.
