Manny Pacquiao will Retire from Boxing in 2010
Jul 15, 2008
In a press conference Tuesday, Pacquiao said he will enter the race for Congress on 2010. He earlier said in front of thousands of his townmates that he will enter politics after he retires from boxing.
“My political [machinery] is already well-arranged,” Pacquiao said. “I am vying for the same position that I contended for in General Santos City in the 2007 elections, but this time in Sarangani province.”
On February 2007, Pacquiao announced that he was running for congress representing South Cotabato. His decision however easily turned off both his fans and the general public. He lost the election last May 2007.
“The P140-million plus Manny Pacquiao lost, could be true,” a Pacquiao confidante said during the 2007 election “Definitely, it’s not lower than P100 million.”
There are many instances where Pacquiao was duped by political operators in 2007. Pacquiao paid large amount of money for a promised political service that never came. Two operators, for example, said they would help Pacquiao in his campaign but would only do so if Pacquiao paid them the initial sum of P500,000 pesos. Pacquiao never heard from them again when he paid. He later found out that they were already working in his rival’s camp.
Thats stupid decision....
Hey Manny, don't you get it! Filipinos all over the world love and support you 100% as a boxer but not as a politician. Learn lessons from the last election...
Manny, you've got a heroic name, but that STUPID politics will destroy your reputation. It will put your name back to ZERO. Mark my words.
Why not do boxing promotions Manny? I'm 100% sure you'll be very successful there. Look at Oscar, you can be like him - you're a legend man.
PS: Philippines has a very STUPID political system.
it would be your biggest defeat if you will enter politics in the philippines.i would rather advise you to be a US citizen and enter politics in US and you have more chance to win in politics.
Manny, you already did a great favor to the country and not only to the whole filipinos in the world but to the asian community. the one thing that is for sure is that politics will backfire on you, local politics you can control but not countrywide, its loaded with fake nationalist, corrupt mentality and publicity hound mentality, What's Noli De Castro doing in Las Vegas on the stage with you? , There's so much unaccomplished work to do for him in the country.
yes ,,manny this people is right!
you are a legendary now,,,don't destroy it.
do not run for a politics manny,,,they will use for doing bad way system....this politician right now in our country,,,are sucks! away from the truth.
they are using the poor people that they don't even know what they are into that their been used by this politicians.
you have a great reputation now,,dont change it,,,on the long way run,,,you gonna blame yourself if you make a mistake in a politics.
this politicians,,,they just working for their own good,,,but not everybody in palace ,,,i know there are some politicians people their doing job from their heart...i salute them,,,but those politician that they just want something for their own interest,? get the hick out of their!!!!!!!!!!!your waisting time for our country and our country men.....thanks
you guys are idiots hes getting in to politics to help the phillipines become a better country..probably end the poverty and economic problems over there
Hey respect the man
im a political science student and i cannot
and will or shall not say this country has clean politics.
just give the man a chance, its as easy as that.
he likes after all.
i respect the mans decision but again
manny BE WARNED AND BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
hey politics is alright,i mean hes done the fans proud and probably himself also, politics is a step up from boxing, you cant do boxing forever right?... Anyway i think 2010 is a year away and until then hes got got some fights comin up and still will be one of the most pound for pound fighters in boxing hands down! thats my opinion like or love it manny has already proven himself to the world if and he wants to go the political way then give the man a chance hes gona do whats right or whats right for him...
manny has his own mind- i just hope it's not banged enough by boxing.
i think filipinos like politics a lot- it's a game over there like nowhere else in the world. politics is one way to use your fame and serve the country- or from another point of view, a way to usurp power when you have money and have more money.
the marcoses gave the example. and the richest people in the philippines still belonged to the families that were powerful before the independence- it's a pity. there was no real revolution in the philippines. it's the same people ruling.
on second thought, people like manny should run- in this way, people who knows poverty will rule- hopefully he would win and actually be a force of change. stranger things have happened. education is overrated. leadership can come from the most unlikely places...
after hearing everyone in the video. i just realized how corrupt filipino politics is. it was always corrupt and will always be corrupt because of poverty and the fact that filipinos really do not have a clear sense of identity. you don't learn in from school and definitely you unlearn any sense of identity by wanting to be the little brown americans (i am filipino and i am appalled of this complex among the educated filipinos). well, either this or a false sense of nationalism (which by the way has been called a disease by einstein).
manny pacquiao should not run if he is only going to be used by the big sharks.
but he has his own mind and his fame is probably getting into his head right now. boxing media and cnn has introduced the hype that he is actually influencial- he is, but only in the sense of his boxing celebrity status. politics would be another thing. he might even win- but he will just be used by everyone. i think he is too naive and has the genuine desire to help people.
idol kung ano plano u mka2buti sau, suportahan ka nmin,wg u bug2gin sarili u s boxing bka mbaldado ka,mapera ka nman na,ok na ung manga laban na pnakta u.
Manny Should Retire After Whoopin Pretty Boy Floyds Ass....
As For Him Becoming A Politician...Ehhhhh..If Thats What He Really Wants To Do ..Nothing or No One Can Change That..But He Should Sticc Around The Boxin Nation..Although The Phillipines Could Use a Decent Politician
haaayyy...
