After suffering a lost at Pacquiao Morales 1, Pacquaio went on to win a fight against Hector Velasquez. A few months after the Velasquez fight, he once again faced Erik Morales.

After five rounds of action, Erik Morales was winning his rematch with Manny Pacquiao and appeared as if he might be on his way to a second win over the Filipino superstar. However, the tide turned dramatically in the sixth round and after that it was all Pac Man.

By the tenth round, Morales appeared completely out of gas and was knocked down twice. Following the second knock down, refereee Kenny Bayless waved off the fight without a count for the first KO loss of Morales' illustrious career. Morales absorbed significant punishment during the fight and his nose appeared broken.
