Much has been said about the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao match, after the fight. Here are some boxing expert views on Manny Pacquiao's recent performance:

"Pacquiao was a master, strafing De La Hoya with brutal straight lefts all night. His speed was impressive against the statue-like De La Hoya, the 35-year-old Golden Boy whose pretty face was bruised and battered when the carnage was over... The victory makes Pacquiao something of a modern-day Henry Armstrong, the pound-for-pound legend who over the course of 10 months from October 1937 to August 1938 claimed, in order, the world featherweight, welterweight and lightweight championships."

- Dan Rafael, ESPN

"Manny Pacquiao proved that old boxing adage that speed kills by baffling, bewildering and ultimately battering Oscar De La Hoya to a punishing and humiliating eighth-round technical knockout Saturday night... But it was more than Pacquiao’s blinding hand speed that upset the odds and gave the Filipino icon the biggest victory of his career – or the career of any other Asian fighter in history. Pacquiao dominated De La Hoya with speed, skill, technique and strategy."

- Doug Fischer, The Ring Online

"Oscar, try as he did, could not cope either with the Filipino's speed or southpaw stance. Indeed, Pacquiao looked so good, his performance begged the question of whether or not he'd have been able to do this to a fresher De La Hoya."

- James Slater, East Side Boxing

"No longer does the discussion end with his referral as a modern day Henry Armstrong. It instead extends to where he belongs amongst the ranks of names like Robinson, Armstrong, Ali, Louis, Duran, Greb and Leonard after racking up the most high-profile win of his career, scoring an upset of the ages after forcing Oscar de la Hoya to quit on his stool after eight shockingly one-sided rounds."

- Jake Donovan, Boxing Scene

"I don't know from Henry Armstrong. But I now count myself lucky to have seen Pacquiao — his bravery and skill in full measure... Pacquiao was able to demonstrate not only that he's the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, but for the first time, how good he really is. In the process, he ended the idea of De La Hoya as anything but a commercial proposition."

- Mark Kriegel, Fox Sports

"But Pacquiao’s victory was so absolute that you almost have to wonder if he really is that good, or if Oscar is that far gone. Perhaps it’s a combination of both."

- Bernard Fernandez, The Sweet Science

"Manny Pacquiao unequivocally established himself as the finest fighter in the world Saturday. But he accomplished an even more stunning feat when he not only defeated Oscar De La Hoya but battered him into retirement with a shockingly one-sided victory."

- Kevin Iole, Yahoo Sports

"Manny Pacquiao upset the odds and boosted his already stellar reputation with his systematic destruction of Oscar De La Hoya"

- Ciaran Baynes, Setanta

"It became a great little fighter in his prime, beating up on a once great older fighter not in his. Manny is great."

- G. Leon, Boxing Talk

"It didn’t take long to see that while Pacquiao had faced much better fighters than De La Hoya - De La Hoya had never faced anything like Pacquiao. The left cross landed so easily. So often. With such force. De La Hoya was more marked up after three minutes with Pacman than 25 with Bernard Hopkins."

- Bart Barry, 15 Rounds

"Combine Pacquiao’s mental toughness, his blazing speed and persistent ferocity and the Fighter Of The Year is the Pinoy Idol."

- Michael Marley, Boxing Confidential

"The Henry Armstrong comparisons for Pacquiao are not competely out of order. He's beaten top opponents at 130 and 147, and beat a very strong opponent in David Diaz at 135. Pacquiao made De La Hoya look worse than Diaz."

- Tim Starks, The Queensberry Rules

"Let there be no mistake who the greatest fighter alive is right now. That's Manny Pacquiao... One thing is for sure, there are a lot of writers and so called boxing experts that are eating a plate full of crow right now. There were even a few writers that were calling this fight a complete circus act, and came pretty close to belittling Roach, and Top Rank for even considering such a fight. With the 8 rounds of absolute total dominance by Pacquiao, perhaps now some will have a more opened mind in the future."

- Brad Cooney, 8 Count News

"Manny Pacquiao had done it! He had not only pulled off an upset that few had foreseen, but done it in a manner unforeseen by any. And, in the process, had placed his name in the record books alongside that of Henry Armstrong, the original copyright holder of leap-frogging from division-to-division to win multiple championships along the way. No tonic, no matter how well advertised, has the invigorating effect on the boxing public as a new superstar. And Manny Pacquiao is now that new superstar, despite those before-the-fight prophesies by foreboding soothsayers who now can go back to just saying 'sooth.'."

This one is from someone who saw the fight from ringside, it's no other than Judge Stan Christodolou:

"Christodoulou doesn’t believe De La Hoya was shot as much as Pacquiao was too good. “I’ve never
seen a fighter like him. You can’t work out his style. He adapts and adjusts to his opponent’s style.
He (Pacquiao) doesn’t even know what he’s going to do next. He just fights according to the situation,
he reacts to what’s happening in front of him. He’s unique,” says Christodoulou, who believes Pacquiao
will hold his own against the world’s top welterweights."

He is one of a kind. Molded by his talent and willingness to be on top. I just hope he continue this career and stop thinking on ruining it by running for a political seat. That will be his end.

Pacquiao is the best fighter today. his amazing footwork is his biggest advantage against all big opponent like dela hoya. as i watch dela hoya's fight in his early career he has a hand speed, power and strategy. the only thing he has nothing is a footwork like Pacquiao has. Dela Hoya is not old enough he can manage to fight other elite boxer and win again but not to pacquaio.

Pacquiao fight like a street fight no matter what's your weight. I think manny can manage to fight even in much higher division

The Pacquiao Hatton fight will just be a replay of the Diaz fight against Manny.Brawlers alike couldn't cope up with the boxing style of Pacquiao.Just keep the fight in the middle of the ring and surely you will see a spectacular knockout again.

Manny Pacquiao is a modern day "David" defeating Oscar(Goliath) dela Hoya is something that is relative to biblical. Propehecy has fulfilled.A testimony of strong believe of God and himself. Cementing his name in the world of Boxing is just like launching a new start in far East (Phil) "I am Proud to be a Filipino"

Manny, you are a godsend to the whole filipino nation. You made them proud to be filipino. You have helped a lot thru your charities and kindness and would surely continue to do so.
I hope you weigh the pros and cons of political life. Politics, whether in our country or elsewhere has never changed. It will surely drain all your hardearned wealth faster than you will realize.
A lot of "friends" will surely say you will help other people, but you already are. You are better investing your wealth for yourself as well as for your loved ones to live comfortably in this lifetime, thereby preserving
what you have for the future.
Follow what your "HEART" says and not what others say....there will be alot of "people" around you....inevitably its your call... your mother knows you well, ask her....
